Compared to standard butyl rubber bicycle inner tubes, latex tubes are considerably more elastic (10x elongation compared to 2-3x). More importantly, Latex Rubber has significantly lower coefficient of damping which means that when latex rubber is stretched or flexed, it returns to shape faster and with less energy loss.
What does this mean for an inner tube? Latex inner tubes are generally 2-5 Watts (per tire) more efficient at 30mph than tubes made of other materials. They are harder to pinch-flat and offer superior ride quality, especially when combined with supple, low rolling resistance tires. This tube has been sized to fit tires measuring 24-30mm, which will equate to 23-28mm tires used on modern wider rims. Valve stem length is 42mm and will work in all modern disc wheels.

Nice to get a great product at a special price. Especially without doing the Amazon thing.
Sweet looking tube, I can’t wait to try it, come on summer!
I was careful to install and made sure the sides were not pinched, but I had two punctures on one 25 mile ride. I understand that this is not the experience most riders have, but I will not be purchasing latex tubes again. They are lighter, but just weren't reliable enough.
I don’t ride tubeless wheels, I don’t ride frequently enough to keep them sealed, at least during the winter months. I’ve been riding with latex tubes for several years now (pre-pandemic) and they give me the same ride feel I remember my 180 gr silk sew ups did back in the day. They definitely take the harsh chatter out of the rough roads I am lucky enough to ride on. The latex tubes are also quite durable. I’ve only had one hole in one tube on the inside of the rim right next to the valve; I suspect a tube got through QC somehow. I’m reluctant to say this, but I’ve not had a road flat since riding latex tubes at 2K miles per year for three plus years. Overall another great product from SILCA. The latex is a far superior and comfortable ride to the regular butyl tubes, cheaper too in the long run.
